Josephine Kimberling's New Website

Welcome to my new website! I've been excited to get a new virtual home set-up that incorporates my new branding and is a better fit for my aesthetic. I really loved my old website and look, yet just felt that over time I grew out of it and needed to stretch my wings. I also wanted it to be a space where I could speak directly to you as a person and share my work with you. What do you think?

I wanted to go ahead and share a little bit about what a crazy few weeks it's been! If you follow me on social media, you are aware of what I've been dealing with. I started out working with a web developer to design a new site in Wordpress and about 2 days in, my website got hacked. My web developer had to put my new site on hold and work on cleaning-up the hacking and malware code insertions. If you went to my website, you probably saw a "Warning! This Site Contains Malware" message, blocking you from entering. (Talk about scary!) It was a CRAZY week of seriously feeling like we were in a cyber battle. He'd spend hours cleaning it up, and we would think that we had finished – only to have more hacking take place. Over and over again. Brutal.

At the end of the day, there were two choices. Spend my budget on fixing the old site and clean up the hacking or stop while we could and cut my losses. I chose the latter. Feeling defeated, and with the urgency of needing to get a website up, and without resources to build a new, glossy site from the ground up, I spent a week designing this new one in Squarespace. It's much simpler, but will work for my present needs. I'm pretty happy about how it turned out, especially since it was "free" (minus hours of my valuable time), but I sure miss Wordpress.

Unfortunately at this time, I don't have access to about 4 years of blog posts, so if you are looking for something older, I'm sad to tell you that it's gone.

Also, in an attempt to help any of you who have Wordpress websites I can not stress enough how important it is to keep Wordpress and all of your plug-ins, etc. up to date immediately after the updates become available. If that plug-in costs $100, believe me, it's worth it compared to the risk of having your site hacked.

On the bright side though, it's up! No malware! I'm happy with it and I'm excited to have my new branding in place. Sigh. I hope you enjoy!

Also - I'm planning on starting a newsletter called "The Catalyst" where I take a deeper dive with you into thoughts and resources to discover more about who you are and what makes you unique, concepts I’m chewing on from the latest soul-searching books I’m listening to, the ups and downs of running a creative business, and new product releases and sales in my shop (before anyone else). I think this newsletter will be great for the creative spirit, small business owner, and human being who wants resources to propel themselves further in their lives, know that they are not alone, get tips, and of course, who like my work and want to stay up to date. I hope you'll join me!

Thanks so much for swinging by my new website! I hope you can take a minute to look around and get comfortable. I especially like how you can see a lot of my work in one portfolio page and invite you to pin from there!

Have a lovely weekend!
